Blygold Protection of Heat Pumps
Heat pumps are an increasingly popular choice for space and water heating, due to their high energy efficiency and the environmental benefits from being powered by renewable electricity sources. The outdoor units of heat pumps are functionally and physically similar to air conditioning condenser units, and typically fitted with water-gas heat exchangers, pumps, and valves that make them considerably more expensive.
As the outdoor coil operates in cooling mode to extract heat from the air, it creates large volumes of condensed water that exposes it to corrosive conditions and the risk of corrosion failure. Therefore, excellent corrosion protection is essential to maximise the performance, energy efficiency, life, and good appearance of this very expensive piece of equipment. High Pressure is Key to Effective Coil Coating
The science behind paint atomization rests upon the application of a force, like compressed air, to a liquid like paint to break it up into tiny droplets as they are being applied. Air atomizing nozzles can create either a fan or cone spray pattern depending on the design of the nozzle.
When thinking of spray painting most people think of coating a surface (like a car). In HVAC spraying it is all about penetration (all the way through) which requires high pressure settings. Furthermore, fins are no longer neat and straight. They are louvered in various configurations which means the pressure setting is vital for complete coverage and penetration with adequate product.
Good penetration spraying needs a good compressor and high PSI settings (45 – 80 psi) on an HVLV gun with a 505 nozzle and 0.9mm pin. Blygold also uses large compressors and an assortment of tools and equipment to achieve the right result. Water based products use airless spray guns at a maximum 8 psi.
